Nuotolinis sprogdiklis gali būti pirotechninis (su parakiniu delsikliu), mechaninis (laikrodinis), elektrinis ir mišrusis. Naudojamas skeveldriniuose, kasetiniuose, dūminiuose ir kt. sviediniuose, kai kuriose bombose, raketų kovinėse dalyse ir kt.
